Overview

Forcefield is an app designed to help parents control their children’s device use. It works to restrict access to applications and web-browsing, while providing other features that make it appealing for any family that uses Mac devices. Unlike many of the other internet filtering, internet monitoring, and internet accountability apps we’ve looked at, Forcefield does a good job in setting itself apart from the pack and offers unique advantages and features.

Forcefield

Pros

The biggest pro you get with Forcefield is that they have the longest free trial option out of all the different applications we investigated. You can try the app for free for 30 days before you have to pay for the services, so you can be sure that you’re getting what you want from it before you have to invest any of your hard-earned money.

Additionally, Forcefield has a curated library of apps and websites that are safe for children and families to use. As a result, you won’t have to worry about your children picking an app from this list. The program doesn’t restrict other apps, so it doesn’t get in the way or become cumbersome, and the safe app list covers nearly anything your children could want to do.

While other apps offer reports regarding internet usage, Forcefield takes it one step further and also offers Photo Reports. That means you can see any picture your children upload on social networks from the parent dashboard included in the app. As a result, you can keep your children safe from dangerous or risky social media behavior, and make sure that they aren’t engaging in activities you’ve forbidden.

Cons

The biggest con for Forcefield is that it currently only works on Apple devices, and doesn’t support Windows or Android. Therefore, it won’t work for everyone in your family unless everyone is using Mac products, which tend to be more expensive than comparable competitors.

Moreover, after the 30-day trial has expired the app costs $11.99 per month. This fee includes two parents and one child. Each additional child is $3 per month. Therefore, if you have two children, you’ll be paying nearly $15 per month for the apps services, which is on the upper end of what internet monitoring and accountability services cost for families.

Verdict

Forcefield offers great features and really stands out from the competition. The price is a bit high and the software only works on Apple devices, but if you can afford it and you use Apple products at home then it is easily one of the best options for family internet monitoring and accountability applications on the market.
